It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, those for the record chasers, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

The fact it required until Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their batters to hold a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to produce her newest gem.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her bow and seven world titles have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fail again.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the reasoning behind final game tension. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in practice sessions, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature take over and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was underway.

"The possibility to go out there and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 balls as she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was out her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can succeed."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was at that stage they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the first time at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

However although she later admitted those injuries have delayed plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
